A waste management company approached MV Technologies for a solution to reduce H2S emissions of an anaerobic digester. The company had to comply with their air permit and warranty requirements of their engine manufacturer. The flow of the digester averages 150 cfm, with concentrations of H2S between 2,500 and 3,000 ppm.
MV Technologies supplied a single-vessel H2SPlus System with a 10’ diameter by 10’ tall vessel, designed to treat the hydrogen sulfide down to 100 ppm or less throughout the 170-day bed life of the media.
A digester developer contacted MV Technologies to provide the sulfur removal portion of a large digester project that converts food waste into renewable energy. With a gas flow around 500 cfm, and an inlet concentration of 700 ppm, the facility requires H2S scrubbing to effectively operate the two internal combustion biogas engines.
MV Technologies designed a 12’ diameter x 11’ tall single-vessel system with 882 ft3 of iron sponge media. The H2SPlus System reduces the hydrogen sulfide concentration to below 200 ppm for at least 230 days.

MV Technologies responded to a bid solicitation for improvements to an existing cogeneration facility at the municipal wastewater treatment facility. Inlet H2S concentration is 2,100 ppm, with a desired outlet of less than 10 ppm for the 1,000 cfm gas flow.
A two-vessel system was developed, utilizing two 12’ diameter x 12’ tall vessels containing a combined 2,100 ft3 of our media. These vessels treat the 2,100 ppm hydrogen sulfide concentrations for at least 70-days before 10 ppm breakthrough.
This agricultural digester facility, which produces 270 SCFM, utilized the activated carbon vessels (right side of photograph) for a period of 6-months to remove 2,000 ppm, accumulating more than $150,000 in operating costs for H2S removal alone.
MV Technologies provided a solution to replace an activated carbon system integrated with a CHP installation. A single-vessel system was integrated, utilizing 12’ diameter x 14’ tall vessel containing 1,344 ft3 of MV’s media. The system is designed to have a 270 day bed life with an approximate annual media expense of $35,000.
